UNIVERSAL MARTIAL ARTS - TAEKWON-DO
Have you ever wanted to learn more about martial arts but not sure which is the right one for you? Well London Road Sports Centre is proud to have a long standing relationship with Universal Martial Arts and Taekwon-Do instructor Master Kessler.
What is TAEKWON-DO?
Taekwon-Do is a version of an ancient form of unarmed combat practised for many centuries in the Orient. Perfected in its present form in Korea, Taekwon-Do was officially founded in Seoul, South Korea by Major General Choi Hong Hi 9th DAN in 1955.
Literally translated, Taekwon-Do means “The way of the foot and hand”.
Consisting in over 3500 techniques Taekwon-Do teaches the student to employ the hands and feet as the tools of personal protection.
Taekwon-Do places equal emphasis on both the importance of physical and spiritual training. Years of hard physical training would mean nothing without the proper adherence to modesty and propriety, the very essence of the oriental philosophy.
Taekwon-Do is based on 5 tenants:

Based at London Road Sports Centre and now branching out all over Shropshire, Universal Martial Arts was established by James Kessler, a 6th degree black belt, ITF international instructor and examiner. Master Kessler truly is a master of his trade and the highest ranked TKD instructor in Shropshire.
Universal Martial Arts teach an authentic syllabus developed by ITF Taekwon-Do and its founder General Choi Hong Hi. Unlike other Taekwon-Do classes they offer traditional and recognised training techniques and allow students to work at their own pace depending on ability. Master Kessler was lucky enough to learn directly from the late General Choi Hung Hi, so who better to instruct you or your children?
